Mapping internal channels without guessing

Org charts and hallway advice often disagree. This note shows a quieter way to find the real intake owner.

Start with the documents your employer already published: the employee handbook, the intranet compliance page, and any works council agreements that mention reporting. Highlight every mailbox, hotline, and named role. Then verify one operational detail that paper rarely shows—who receives the ticket after submission.

Three verification moves

First, send a non-sensitive test to the published address only if your role permits it (many employees should not). Managers redesigning intake can ask IT for the distribution list. Second, ask HR which system generates acknowledgements. Third, confirm whether the works council expects parallel notice for certain categories.

What Softwaredevtools teaches next

In Workplace Reporting Pathways, Module 3 turns this checklist into a one-page channel map. Learners leave with a diagram they can revisit when policies change—common after mergers or new software vendors.
